I haven't taken a great amount of time to update this blog in the recent year, and there are times of familiarity when I do come here and visit to which I am very thankful, but I don't always feel terribly comfortable or free to express myself here anymore. I recently reread some of my older posts from 2006 and on, and at that time I had a certain passion for blogging, and a certain fearlessness to post as I felt at all times. My personal space has been violated since then in this area though, and even though I am literally bursting with budding romance, sexual energy, freedom and love at this instant, there is extreme distance between my Vox and I from 2006 until now. I resist posting anything of importance now, which does not serve me as I used this blog as a board of creativity for a long time! I feel like having this space is really important, and so I'm starting a new blog today. If you are interested in reading, please send me an email to sharkslovecupcakes@gmail.com, contact me on Facebook as Monika Sylvestre or send me a message on here and I'll be happy to Invite you to this new location. Thank you and Namaste.

Doing
free publicity lah :)
Two days ago, I blogged about I went for Henderson Waves trail, right?
And, I met some foreigners doing some stunts on the trail and, out of the blue, they appeared onto my camera frame.
I exchanged email address with one of them so that I could forward photos to them :)
They work in a ship as volunteers and invite everyone (including me *winks*) to onboard "MV Doulos", oldest
passenger ship in the world, sailing as floating bookshop for a charity
organization. Its last voyage to Singapore, and will be berth in Vivo
City from 15th to the 27th of December 2009.
Entrance is FREE ..
Come and bring friends with you :)
Meet Doulos for last time :)
I can't stop sharing how much I enjoyed watching it. I was also so pleasantly surprised! Being in the animation industry I am always critical of things like that. I'm not saying I'm the end all be all of animation, but I'd like to think I know what I'm doing/saying!
This is a film that everyone can enjoy. It can also be said it is this years Iron Giant. I feel traditonal animation will always be around. Maybe not as prevalent as it used to be, but it is an art form that everyone will always appreciate and enjoy.
To go back to the film, the way that Anderson made this film to not be strictly "by the book" but something Dahl would completely agree he did it justice. The props, maquettes, the writing, the pacing, the colors, the effort, the 4+ years was just all there on screen. Mind you this is not a blockbuster, but a classic for years to come.
In the New York Magazine they feature the Fox family front and center. The article covers a short interview with Anderson and the work that went into making the film. Such an endeavor will always get noticed. For example each maquette has levers/pedals inside the face to create close up expressions, and highly detailed armature that is composed of Allen joints, pipes, silicone, stockings, goat fur and much much more. You can understand the love and care that went into each figure. I would have loved to work on this film personally. -sigh-
Someday I am determined to have my own animation company and I hope to produce at least one stop-motion/animated feature. I don't see it happening anytime soon, but it will happen mind you! XD
Back to Fantastic Mr Fox! I also picked up the The Making of Fantastic Mr. Fox: A Film by Wes Anderson Based on the Book by Roald Dahl. This is a great book to have. It has every little thing you would be interested in knowing about the film. It has interviews, details of how each character was made, the process of working with Anderson overseas, storyboards, sketches, notes, illustrations, concept art, etc etc etc. If you are looking for a gift to give someone who loves animation, is artsy, or would like to get into the whole world of animation I would purchase this book for them. The best deals can be found online for future reference. hehe.
Anywho, I'm hoping my friend Ceci bothers me to see this film so I have an excuse to see it for the third time.
SUPPORT GREAT FILMS!
XOXO
Supposed to meet @ 10am near Tang Studio's entrance at Vivo City but woke up late. Managed to arrive there (another location) 10.20am.
Bought 1.5 litres of mineral water from Giant, popped into Subway and ordered Tuna value meal for late breakfast/early lunch together. And, P ordered Bacon + Egg for breakfast as take-away for her lunch but regretted later when she found the price wasn't worth it at all.
We took a bus 145 to alight at bus-stop along Henderson Road, climbed the staircase (opp. bus-stop) up to Mount Faber.
As we hiking the trail ... took some candid photos of people and animals (birds too!) ...
(pardon lah, I put on light makeup even though it's cloudy cloudy cloudy ... somehow I didn't appear pretty :( *don't take closeup again* and I should use slight darker colour on my pout.)
(well, it's already drizzling)
Henderson Waves (Mt Faber side) --> Hilltop walk --> Terrace Garden (skipped) --> Forest Walk --> Alexandra Arch --> Floral Walk (HortPark, been there before but still walked) --> END Canopy Walk

I worked this morning until 1:30, and after that I went to my grandmothers to have dinner there. It was my moms side of the family. It was okay, it just felt different this year. Things were crazy. I felt bad for my mom because she cooked most of the items since my grandma is not well lately. The food was okay, turkey was super dry but if I were my mom I wouldn't be too worried about that either... I picked at my food... eventually left to go home and get ready to go over Bobby's. I love my family but I felt kind of awkward this year. Not too many people actually take an interest in what goes on - they mostly just chastise you for not coming around lately.
Anyway.
So once I got there, his family was already home from his grandparents house. The first thing he did was feed me his grandmas "green jello". I recall seeing it last Christmas actually, but I didn't eat there so I never tried any. It's DELICIOUS! It's made with lime jello and cream cheese and pineapple and walnuts and coconut I think. It tastes like a fruit snack only in .. fluffy jello with pineapple and nuts style.
Then we watched..... CHRISTMAS VACATION!
I was secretly super excited about this because no joke, I had visions of watching this with them soon and I kind of hoped we'd watch it tonight but I never even mentioned anything, Bobby brought it up! After the movie, his parents brought us a big piece of his grandmas pumpkin pie to share. It's as tasty as my grandmothers is, only maybe not quite as sweet. Also, there is more to it. His grandmothers is bigger in general. It was delicious!
So after that, myself, bobby, and his mom and dad played a couple games of apples to apples. During the second game Bobby decided he wanted a turkey sandwich and this is when I sampled some of their leftovers.
The turkey was sooo good. I never knew turkey could taste that good. It was juicy too. Definitely not used to it! His grandmother makes a sausage stuffing and she puts like 12 eggs in it. It's more dense and seems more like egg than bread but it was very tasty. Oh and his mom also gave me some of the green bean casserole she made.
Then we all went back in the living room and started watching something else - i forget what - i was mostly cuddling with Bobby.
Eventually they went to bed and we just relaxed together the rest of the night.
But the cute thing - during the leftover break - Bobby's mom was like "So, your guys anniversary is coming up soon huh!"
Later I mentioned to Bobby I was surprised she mentioned that, and he was like "yeah! me too!"
His dad was asking me if I like fish and everything because they do the italian 7 fish thing. So I guess I'm invited over for Christmas again this year. I wasn't TECHNICALLY invited over last year as we'd only been dating for what - 15 days haha... but uh it all worked out =). They didn't have a problem with me coming over for christmas and they were going back to his grandparents house later that night (they live right down the street) and they just had me come along.
I love his family... they are wonderful people.
Oh and then I was cracking up because I guess earlier that day Bobby and his dad were walking up the basement steps (their garage pretty much is their basement) and his dad saw his pants hanging on the line that have a big hole in the crotch. Well his dad was like "What, she didn't want to wait?" or SOMETHING like that, LOL.
He was kidding of course.
But omg - that made me laugh. I wouldn't expect it of him.
Anyway I'm done blabbing. I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving =)
